Named in honor of Juaquin Moraga, son of Gabriel Moraga, and grandson of José Joaquín Moraga, famous 18th-century expeditionaries of Alta California. Moraga is an idyllic, upper end economic, low density, bedroom community with very light commercial and mostly private homes. It’s approximately 9.5 Square miles of beautiful hillsides and residential communities with a current population of approximately 17,600. It has a small and spread out commercial area, just enough to serve the community.
It is nestled in the hills and valleys above Highway 24 which is the main artery that helps east valley residents commute to San Francisco, Oakland and the I680 corridor.
Moraga is also the home of Saint Mary’s College, a Basketball powerhouse with a beautiful, Spanish style campus and the Moraga Country Club, a picturesque Country Club and golf course at the top of the Valley. Moraga also features great schools and parks. It’s a very desirable lifestyle.
