With a rich Spanish history prior to the town's founding as “Todos Santos” (All Saints) back in 1868, it’s not surprising that the architectural style most common in the downtown area is still the Spanish Hacienda style. The name was changed to Concord very soon after its founding in 1868. It has since developed into the largest city in Contra Costa County with over 130,000 residents. It’s a well balanced bedroom community and medium size metropolis with multi-story office buildings, numerous shopping centers, ranches, single family homes, condos, apartments and a full array of churches and religious facilities and it boasts the home of the Concord Pavilion for great live entertainment.
Concord also features great parks and golf courses, recreation facilities and quick (about 45 minutes) freeway access to San Francisco, ten minutes to Walnut Creek, and fifteen minutes to the Delta where a variety of water sports can be enjoyed.
