Clayton is a historic community that dates back to the late 1800’s but was incorporated into a City in 1964. Many of the buildings downtown still reflect that early California ranch and farm community feel. The City Hall, for example, is the former DiMartini Winery which was built in 1885 and has since been completely restored to modern service standards. The “Historic Style of Architecture” is a requirement of all new buildings in Clayton in order to maintain early California character. Downtown Clayton enjoys a variety of popular family friendly events throughout the year and has access to the trail system of the Mt. Diablo State Park where you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. A bedroom community in the shadow of Mount Diablo plus Walnut Creek close by and San Francisco just 45 minutes away this is truly a great place to live and raise a family.
